When competing in dog shows, it’s important for your dog to look his or her very best. However, appearances are definitely not the only criteria that judges consider. At a conformation show, judges look at how close a dog adheres to the ideals of their breed. Additionally, competitive dogs must also present well and display good behavior.
Mastery of fundamental obedience commands are an important part of conformation training. In particular, your dog will need to know the “stand” and “stay” commands for competition.
